How Can I Protect A Website Idea?

I understand the differences betwen the patent, copyright and trademark. I am trying to find out what should I do when attempting to start a unique website, if there is anything that can be done. I would like to tradmark the name, but it says I need an attorney on some sites. Even on the application it asks about an attorney, is one truly needed? The website is only for one area, for example only for disabled people. Any suggestions on what should be done?

I am advised to contact the patent office and hire a patent attorney to file for a patent. It seems that I should file patent online at U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (http://www.uspto.gov/).
How can I trust that nobody will steal my patent info online? How can I trust that the attorney would not share the info with other parties?
