Being in the biz, I can’t be impartial about your first question. I’m sure another answerer can give you first hand experience.
If you’re wanting to protect the name for clothing, cosmetics, cosmetic brushes and jewelry – you have 4 different classes:
003 – cosmetics
014 – jewelry
021 – cosmetic brushes
025 – clothing
It’s necessary to have comprehensive research on the mark done prior to filing to ensure that there is no possibility of infringing upon another party.
This entails searches of the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.
You can search the USPTO’s Goods/Services Manual here: http://tess2.uspto.gov/netahtml/tidm.htm… Just enter specific keywords (e.g. clothing, jewelry, etc.) and you can see what goods fall into what classes.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
